Lenten Message (21)

Today, Friday, April 1, is the twenty-first day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 21

We may think of the Grace of God as the disposition of a Supreme Power to show mercy on our weaknesses and mistakes. But the Grace of God is the inability of a Supreme Being to be aware of something that is not and could never be. We are always working from the mistaken belief of limitation and the absence of something instead of the fullness of the creation; like the fruit we are predestined to fulfill or become, for we are possessed of God.

There is nothing else for us to be but that which we are. We are only lost to good when we are unaware of it. Sickness, lack, and incompletion of any kind are the result in the outer world of man’s unawareness of his true self. Man does not know the substance of which his body and life are formed.

The body is the out-picturing of our use of God-given faculties and powers. There is not a body to heal, in reality there is no problem to solve, but there is something very important and powerful to know! To know is complete acceptance in mind and feeling! The body responds to the movement of mind. It was not created to be the recipient of fear, hate, worry, anger, humiliation, or millions of other distorted beliefs that are visited upon it by the unknowing mind.

The restoring, renewing power of the inner action goes on ceaselessly. It always seeks for balance which is health, freedom, and fulfillment.

A new structure is actually being formed continuously within our body, momentarily. We register every fear, worry, and uncertainty in our own flesh. What we call healing is but a change of viewpoint, an awareness of the vital substance of life.

Sickness is the end of some state of mind on its way out. Some deep untrue fear, belief or untrue emotion has broken free and has come to the surface to be eliminated in every sickness and every healing. Do not believe in the power of illness, for the flesh of your body is a reality, it is God! God is all and there is nothing else for anything to be. Knowing God is the action of all healing. God is not a power that sends affliction as punishment; this is but a false belief in man’s mind. Jesus healed others by the greatness of His faith; He healed His own body from death because He knew the inner God-Being which He called the Father.

Lenten Message (11)

Today, Monday, March 21, is day number eleven in the Lenten season. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 11

Man seeks in books and in the thoughts and words of those long gone to find the answers to his present-day dilemma. All the books in the world will not give him the secret of life. For the secret of life is not in a book but in his heart and mind. Not even in the Bible, the best seller of all time, can man find the answer.

The Bible is about the living Truth of God, but this Truth is living in man. It is in all men and women, and this is why it is so difficult to find, for as we look at men and judge from appearances we cannot believe we are all one.

Most of those who are seeking are looking for a secret panel, disregarding the open door. There is no mystery, no secret way, no password. There is but one supreme Truth. This truth was always present in the time of the Bible, when man believed the earth was flat, or in the modern age, when man has seen his earth from outer space.

The one Truth man must know above all lesser truths and facts is that this Truth rises from within him. This is the Truth Jesus spoke of, the Truth, if man could know, would make him free. The question of Pilate echoes down the corridors of time, “What is Truth?”

Truth is that which is true, never changes, rightful, real, without beginning and without end. Truth is the wisdom of God within you. Still the question persists, “What then is Truth?”

In every human form there is an inner power, a causing action, the source of all that is. This power manifest in the outer is man. This power is called God. This power is the open door to the mystery of life. Truth has the same meaning as “troth.” Betroth in its true meaning means “two who are one!”

This is the Truth of every man, every human being. Man is God, he belongs to God; for what is God belongs to God. “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?” (I Cor. 6:19 RSV) “There are varieties of gifts, but the same spirit . . . and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in everyone.” (I Cor. 12:4,6 RSV) You yourself are the Truth of God! Understanding is to know the Truth of that which stands under and back of and in and through all we are and do.

Lenten Message (8)

Today, Thursday, March 17, is day number eight in the Lenten season. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 8

It may come to your mind to inquire about the present world crisis. What are we doing about it? There has always been a world crisis because man believes in the power of the outer manifestation. Man believes solely in the evidence of the senses, especially of the sight and of what he can understand and what is apparent.

“Apparent,” Webster’s dictionary says, is “appearing as actual to the eye or mind distinguished from, but not necessarily opposed to the actual, true or real; it is the seeming.” We are instructed in the Scripture, “Look not to appearances, judge righteous judgment.”

We have worked in the outer realm of appearances and been unaware of the controlling Power. We have not even been aware of our own involvement. We are co-creators with God but we might say, “without portfolio,” for we are without the at-one-ness. We are using the mighty Power without understanding.

The great commandment is, “Find wisdom, get understanding: Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom.” (Proverbs 4:5 and 7) And we are further told, “The wisdom of the world is foolishness to God. Therefore let no man glory in men.” (I Corinthians 3:19)

We believe that we must find the cause of all “world crises” since the beginning of time! We find this answer: In man’s ignorance of God, in his unawareness of his true self, he has not found wisdom.

Wisdom is in his inner parts. It is a knowing. It is an inner impression that cannot be shaken. Perhaps conscience, in its true meaning which is “inmost thought or sense?” is our greatest wisdom. But man has reasoned himself out of conscience and inner wisdom and run the gamut of the intellect and theory and made a world in which he himself can no longer live with respect and honor. Man is lost in his own machinations.

Jeremiah 2:13 states it clearly: “My people have committed two evils, they have forsaken the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” We must know the Truth of our real Source and return by daily acceptance to this true self. We must return to the “Fountain of Living Waters.”

Lenten Message (7)

Today, Wednesday, March 16, is day number seven in the Lenten season. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 7

There are many things in our world today that overwhelm us. There are situations and conditions of seemingly great evil, manifestations that we cannot understand with our human reasoning, things in our lives and relationships that haunt us with the question “why?” There are in our world today things that strike fear in our hearts and before which the strongest one trembles. Strength is to stand against the appearances of any time.

The Scripture reassures us that we belong to the One Power we call God and we as human beings have overcome or conquered “all such” for the power that is in us is greater than this that is in our world. (I John 4:4) It also tells us we are saved from these things “by grace.” (Eph. 2:8) If we are safe from the “things” of the world, we should find out how and be safe!

How do we get this grace? How do we use it? What is it? Grace means “beloved, dear.” So we must have the power because we are beloved, and dear, belonging to the One power that dwells in us.

Surely Jesus believed He was beloved and dear to the power within Him that He affectionately called “Father.” He also called this Power, “Our Father.” Jesus had power in the invisible far beyond modern man’s greatest achievement. We of this day and age are awed by the invisible realm of feeling and being and here in the invisible realm lies All Power!

In the realm of ourselves we have not found our authority. Our minds, bodies and emotions are an enigma to us. We live in the outer. We can only enter into our true being with the realization of feeling. Feeling is the Power.

You have been aware of your outer self for years. Have you thought of your body as feeling? Pinch your arm and you realize your body is feeling. Body and soul are merely two aspects of feeling. The body is not one substance and soul another, they are both our feelings.

Your response to everything in life is feeling. There is only feeling. We react to sight, hearing, touch, taste, or breath with feeling. Movement is feeling. Rest is feeling. Grace is feeling that you are beloved and dear to the power within. How do you feel?

Lenten Message (4)

Today, Saturday, March 12, is the fourth day of Lent. Lent is a time of preparation for the Easter experience.

I like to think of the word “Lent” in the form of the acrostics:

“Lessening Every Negative Thought”
and
“Loving Each New Today”

Assignment 4

As human beings we are lost in seeking. We seek here and there and everywhere for “something” that will give us a sense of well–being and a release of power that will make us capable of adjusting in every phase of life.

We seek with our sense mind in the outer world of forms and things. Since we seek with sense-instruments, we can only bring the results of what we call material existence into our consciousness.

We are all seeking peace of mind, power, and authority in our own experience and in our own soul! Some have ignorantly used this power and authority over other human beings. They become dictators – and the world is full of little ones and big ones. They do not understand that all power is Self Rule and no man was given dominion over another, but only over the lesser creatures.

All are seeking God, their own true power, their God-self, at the point where the power moves – and that is within the individual! We are God contained and have power to “live and move and have our being” in complete awareness of the Presence.

This power is not in us, but We Are this power. This Power is Omnipresent. It is the Life of all creation of which we are the highest. We are the Highest because we are visible and yet capable of comprehending and merging with the Invisible which we are also.

We can contain, embrace and include all power because we are contained, embraced and included as this power. God is “built-in” every one of us.

There is nothing to heal, to destroy, to change by applying God. There is nothing to be handled, manipulated or managed by the Law of God. We cannot maneuver God, for God is changeless. God is Law! God is All! God Is!

We must know God in expression. We are God moved and God movement, God is Being. God is being You and God is being Me. To be is to know I Am God! “To be” is to be God! To recognize every feeling as God is to know there is no separation. We must be self-aware and we shall be God-aware.

There is nothing to change but something to know. To know is to be aware of by feeling. Feeling is not the touch of the hand but an inward movement, an impression on the innermost “sensitive state” of our Being!

Ash Wednesday – Lenten Message (1)

Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

Lent is a time of preparation for the Easter experience. I like to think of the word “Lent” in the form of two acrostics:

“Loosening every negative thought”
and
“Loving each new today”

For each day of Lent, starting on Ash Wednesday, through Easter Sunday, I would like to share with you some thoughts first expressed as a series of Lenten lessons by a former well-known and well-respected Unity minister, Dr. Sue Sikking, founder of Unity-by-the-Sea, Santa Monica, California, and author of God Always Says Yes and Seed of the New Age, as well as other books and articles.

Here is the first of those Lenten lessons:

Ash Wednesday

That you are reading this is proof that you are consciously aware and on your way to a complete revelation of your true self and of the One that dwells within you.

To learn the true message of this Presence, to have full awareness of it and to work instantly and consciously and constantly with this power is the most important assignment of your life today. It is the vital business of existence. To understand your own body, mind, and being is to understand the universe of which it is the miniature.

This is not scientific research. This is the reverse; not looking at yourself as the physical body, as material and objective; not something to be studied from without, but to begin practicing a new way of learning from within. We shall listen to our own living body and let it teach us the truth of itself.

 Become as a Little Child.

Sit quietly and close your eyes. How do you know you have a body? Forget the feeding, clothing and your reflection in the mirror. Forget the important business man or woman you are or the position you hold in life. To Know Yourself is the end of all education and experience, the goal of all human effort. All great things are simple!

We let go of all that has gone before, all preconceived ideas about ourselves. We are letting go of anything contrary to this Truth – regardless of any appearance – or apparent condition or situation. Your body, this moment, is known to you as that which makes you aware of something else!

You feel strength and power, firmness and support; you feel that heart beat. You feel your chest rise as you breathe. Something within you, yet not you, moves in your body. It is Life! Life – we know It only in feeling the effects or signs of Its Presence! Life is God – Life, There is None Else. Be content at this point to feel Life and know it is working within you! This is God, God Expressing as You! Here – Just as You Are!

God is Blessing You, Right Now!
