Today, Saturday, April 16, is the thirty-fourth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.
Assignment 34
We have accepted that man can be transformed in body and form but this is not enough. He may have a physical change, a striking alteration in appearance, outer character or circumstances but this does not necessarily ensure his good.
Man shall be transmuted; he shall change from one nature of species to another! It will be a Divine alchemy. The baser metal of the poor, sick, or rich and striving man will be transmuted to pure gold or a new being. Something that was for lesser will be changed into something that is much greater.
It is a quiet inner change and is already far advanced in the higher type, in the present-day human being. By higher type I mean higher type of expression; those who are thinking of others, of peace and well-being for all humanity. Of course there is but one true type, the God Presence in man!
As we turn our minds toward higher things, seeking to find in ourselves a higher level of expression, an inner change begins to take place. There is a definite alteration in our actions character; for instance we keep our peace, watch our word, seek within others what we are seeking within ourselves.
It is a change in feeling that causes the change in our nature. As a rule feeling controls all action, not thinking. Feeling is the center of transmutation.
Transmutation is an inner change – selfishness changed into selflessness, hate into love, fear into faith, sorrow into joy, and emptiness into fullness. Peace begins to reign when before there was panic.
The change that began to transfigure our body and our appearance leads us to a new interest in the welfare of others and also leads us into a complete change within ourselves. First we look for beauty, for truth, for the good in ourselves and in others. We know we are no longer “nothing” but the outer expression of the Almighty God. We desire to be in outer appearance and in action among men, our true self.
We are moving step by step into the transmutation of one being into another that is more glorious than we at this point can comprehend. The whole expression is a man of light filled with Spiritual energy. This is the kind of a being we were created to be!
