Today, Tuesday, March 29, is the eighteenth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.
Assignment 18
God is involved in man, like the butterfly is involved in the caterpillar. Man is evolving day by day his spiritual counterpart, God. The greatest lie man has accepted is that growth, change, and experiences are punishment.
The generation of man is the Truth of his genus. Man was born a certain kind or sort. He proceeded from the perfection of God. He has degenerated, but this simply means that he is in the act of becoming; like the seed falling into the ground is growing, unfolding, making a transition. Man is passing from one stage of development into another.
The world and the experiences of the world are man’s place of growth and spiritual unfoldment. Here, unseen, unheralded, the transformation takes place. In the midst of the greatest love and fulfillment, in the depths of the darkest night and the sufferings, regeneration of man moves on.
Everyday experiences carry us forward. Regeneration is to re-establish on a higher basis, to completely reform, to form again; in scriptural terms it is “to be born again.”
No experience of the degeneration period is evil or punishment or even brought upon us by our evil thinking or doing. Man has explained this growth and unfoldment as evil because he has been unable to see the tracings of the Mind of God. He could not comprehend the pattern and result of experience but was overwhelmed by the appearance at the moment and its foreboding!
This change of form and structure is taking place in every child physically, in every soul mentally, and in every man physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Man has faith to carry him through this period of expansion and fulfillment. Faith is the balance and the counterbalance of every experience. Faith proves the Divine paradox; all that seems not good is good. “What you have thought for evil God meant for good.” Faith is believing when you cannot see!
