Lenten Message (30)

Today, Tuesday, March 31, is the thirtieth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 30

We have a unique relationship with other human beings, not only with those who are near and dear to us but with all humanity. Each living soul is complete in itself, one with an inner pattern that is the sum total of all that is to be accomplished in life. This pattern is never duplicated and is unlike any other expression on earth.

This means you cannot direct, force or influence others to leave their pattern for yours or what you think is right for them. This is very harmful. The world is full of misfits and wanderers in life, seeking surcease from the unbearable emptiness of their inner pattern which is the God direction or the very rudder of the ship of life.

Interference with another’s pattern comes in the field of judgment, and we are told not to judge under any circumstances. Judgment is such an insidious thing, we are sometimes of the opinion we are helping and directing another. A great deal of judgment is done under the guise of love and helpfulness.

All judgment is presumptive and unfair because we do not have access to the heart and mind of another. The law is exact, your way or belief is for you alone and never good judgment for another. You have only one measure, what you can or would do! What another is doing has nothing whatsoever to do with you.

You may cry out that they are doing it to you or that it affects you, but it is because you have involved yourself where you do not belong. This is why we are taught to pray “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” The path of detachment may seem a hard path, but in truth it is the path of freedom. Freedom of the soul is the salvation of the individual. Sometimes our soul cries out to be free from the judgment and dictates of others.

There is only law giver and director, and that one is within every soul. The greatest gift you can give to another is to direct them to their own inner voice. This voice is not the opinion or direction of the world, which so often leads us astray. We must listen to our own guidance that we may know how to make the necessary change in our own life.

You have your own assignment, You! If Judgment is turned outward like a searchlight, one’s own soul and mind is shrouded in darkness. Do not judge what happens to you or to another, just wait, for God is always back of, in, and through all of our doings.

Lenten Message (29)

Today, Monday, March 30, is the twenty-ninth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 29

We must understand this world in which we live. We must know it has its right place in the scheme of life. We must not become “spiritually bound.” To be “spiritually bound” is to be off balance spiritually, to go overboard in that direction. We must remember we are physical, mental, and spiritual beings and we must keep our balance in all three. To be truly spiritual is to live in this threefold awareness.

There is not a world to overcome if you mean by overcoming, “to fight.” There is a rare old meaning to the word overcome, it means to “spread and flow over.” We must let the spirit of us; the love of us spread and flow over the mind and body of us until we are a perfectly integrated being. This is balance and this is the truth of the whole person. We must remember in trying times, we are being tried but only that we may grow strong and true. To overcome is to keep one’s peace. To keep one’s peace is to be patient.

Much of moving through worldly experiences depends on the growing influence of patience in our lives. Patience is akin to love. Patience is the art of waiting, the ability to stand still undisturbed because we are aware of “so much more” than the situation at hand or the act of waiting. Patience is a quiet trust that takes command of the situation. Patience is non-resistance and non-resistance is the greatest power on earth. To “resist not” is man’s highest expression of being. It is a constant alertness and reassurance, while we are waiting for the real to come through.

We think of patience as long suffering, and endurance, and we come to a state of mind where we give up and feel the uselessness of going on. The word “suffer” means to “allow” and when we allow anything we permit or approve it. The truest meaning of suffering is to “bear” and to bear is to bring forth.

Patience is the ability to let the good of God come forth through us. We are to allow it and to bring forth or complete it; because there is but one power and that power is always working for our highest good. Jesus said, “If patience possess you, you shall win your soul” (Luke 21:19) and “Bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)

Lenten Message – 5th Sunday – The Overcomer

Today, Sunday, March 29, is the Fifth Sunday in Lent and is known as PASSION SUNDAY. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Here is the message for the fifth Sunday in Lent:

The Overcomer

There is an old saying that the events of your life are “written in the stars.” This simply means you are predestined; that every soul is appointed or ordained beforehand by a Divine decree. Of course man, with his limited concept and never living beyond the surface of his outer mind, either refuses such a belief or he limits the belief as meaning he will die on a certain day or some other foolish limitation. On the other hand he may accept it and live in fear because he thinks he has no control over what happens to him.

The stars are self-luminous; celestial bodies distinguished from other smaller bodies that shine by reflected light. This is interesting because we are all stars, since we all have within us our own light. The sun is a star of above average brightness and among the first religions were those who worshiped the sun, proof that man has always been seeking the light. Jesus has been called “The Light of the World.”

Man’s greatest desire is to know he is not facing his destiny alone. Our desire is a very simple thing, as simple as the destiny of a rose, which is to unfold and send forth its fragrance.

Man’s destiny is far above the reaches of his human mind. We are not bond servants to the outer material law, nor are we bound by what we call the law of failure, destruction and death. Jesus did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill, so that man might express the full significance of his being and purpose.

The predestination of man is like the predestination of the seed, it is predestined to become true fruit. “Till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.” (Matt. 5:18) The God authority in man surpasses that of the law, for it completes the law. YOU, whoever you are, are predestined to be a Son of God in all fullness and you will bring forth this true fruit to the last iota and dot, until its purpose is complete.

There are stairs in my stars; there is a way of completion, call it stairs if I may, between that which I am and that which I am destined to be. Awareness and fulfillment of my God-self is my destiny! To overcome is our destiny. To come up over experience is our victory.

Lenten Message (28)

Today, Saturday, March 28, is the twenty-eighth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 28

Man was created for fulfillment and for glory. The prophecies are full of the glory of man, and man spends his life trying to reach this glory and acclaim in the outer world. Many receive praise, honor and the highest distinction but it does not always carry with it the exalted happiness that is expected. We receive the honor, the applause, the crowd departs and unless this glory is “from glory to glory,” unless it is more moved from within that from without, there is no satisfaction and one is restless and unfulfilled.

All true glory must be accompanied with “wonder.” Wonder is surprise and astonishment and almost awe of this tremendous power within us that draws us up to companionship with those who can share with others the wonder of themselves.

We are treading in the magic field of miracles when we let things happen to us unannounced and unplanned. A miracle is not an infringement or violation of natural law but an event or effect in our lives and world, transcending our knowledge and expectancy. A miracle is that which is natural and true for us, that which comes to us easily and freely when we cease to “try to cause” our life and world. A miracle transcends what the human mind concedes as plausible or reasonable.

The lack of miracles in the world today is because man has put a “ceiling” on his life. He has a cut and dried pattern in his mind of what can happen to him and what cannot; thus he is not able to receive the miracle even if it happens before his very eyes. He will not let a miracle happen to him though his heart cries out for it. He has set up his life without the knowledge that the work that is done in him is the work of a greater power. We are half believers, believing only in ourselves.

We cannot have a partial God, and this is why our lives are not fulfilling. If we are to have a miracle then we must know that all power in and through us is the One Power. We must relax our “policing” of life and open the door of our mind and heart to what God would do through us if we would just let Him.

If we let down the bars of fear, and what people think, and many old fears and beliefs that are outmoded and antiquated, we would find a rush of God-ideas filling our lives with love and joy and we would be blessed and be a blessing.

Lenten Message (27)

Today, Friday, March 27, is the twenty-seventh day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 27

Many times on bonds, coupons, tickets and guarantees, it will read, “Not good if detached.” We can look around us and see how many things are not good if detached. The most efficient labor saving electrical appliances are useless without the power for which they were created. A whole electrical unit of house or city is no good if detached from the power center. Seeds are no good apart from the earth; branches cannot bear fruit if they are separated from the tree.

There is a Divine Principle in the life of every one of us that is the law and order of our being. If we are detached from it we do not function properly and we cannot fulfill our pose. The most unhappy person in the world is one who is not fulfilling the Divine plan, which is the inner movement of the soul. If we do not bring forth the yearnings within us we become frustrated, neurotic and sick or bitter and unhappy.

We detach ourselves from life because we cannot see the way with our human eyes. This is a foolish reason, for we cannot see what is invisible, and it is only revealed to us as we move into it with faith and trust. The law and principle does not occupy space, it is not seen with the human eye but only felt in the mind and heart. Like the principle of music or mathematics it does not enter into error or discord.

No person can produce a single permanent or satisfying condition out of harmony with this power. This inner power of trust, faith, and enthusiasm is the inspiration that carries everything from the realm of mind to completion in life.

We cannot do satisfying work in life separated from this powerhouse and all are helpless as babes without it. It is the flow of the universe with us and we cannot struggle against the infinite. We know when the power is with us. Great men and women always work with it, but it is there in the midst of every soul to be used.

The closer to the inner power we stay, the greater our power and the more effortless our way become. When we work with this power no matter how busy we may be we are content. Content means “to hold together.” A contented person is not detached! Let’s get in tune, in rhythm with the power that created us and creates through us. Draw apart from the constant whir of the outer, find out what you are feeling inside and you will touch again the source of life within.

Lenten Message (26)

Today, Thursday, March 26, is the twenty-sixth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 26

As human beings we are not restricted or limited although we accept limitation on every hand. There is no boundary line for our accomplishment. We belong to the illimitableness of time and Spirit. We think of ourselves as restricted by the limitation of our human concept of ourselves or by the accepted limitation of our physical bodies. In truth there is no limitation.

The whole world, as we see it, is the wrong side of the picture. We see only the back of the canvas. The beauty is on the other side, the side which is named the “within.” This inner side is the side of feeling, knowing and true expressing and it is the real of life. How you feel about something is the real of it!

We have glimpses of this illimitable, immeasurable essence of our being in our sleeping dreams as well as in our waking dreams and visions. This very age in which we live is conclusive proof of the reality of the dreams of man. Proverbs tells us, “Where there is no vision the people perish.”

The very dreams, visions, plans and true desires of our heart are but the urgings of the Indwelling Power and Spirit of our being for expression and fulfillment. Never forbid your Soul the right to dream, for to dream is to conceive as possible a new state of being and it is the first movement of reality; much like the quickening of a child in the womb. The dream is the quickening of that which is to be, brought into reality by believing.

There is a realm of pure ideas within us that is to be brought forth through our minds, faith and word. It is from this realm that we bring forth Life and all its implications. This realm was called the Kingdom of Heaven and was the main theme of all the teachings of Jesus.

Heaven is within you, the storehouse or treasure chest of your good. It contains all that is expected of you on your earthly journey. All that we are and can ever be is stored in the round tower of your heart. We open the windows of heaven by acceptance, with praise and thanksgiving the invisible abundant mind essence. This essence flows through our minds from ideas to expression. Heaven is the orderly realization of ideas and they must be completed by bringing forth on earth.

Lenten Message (25)

Today, Wednesday, March 25, is the twenty-fifth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 25

Peace is a word that is passed back and forth on the tongue of man without meaning. To some people peace means the end of war, but peace is much more than this. Peace is not an end attained on command, not the result of any outer decree.

Peace is an individual responsibility and an individual opportunity. Peace without is impossible unless we have peace within. This is true with the individual or with nations. The power of thought and feeling combined is the power of the world. Peace is not outer demeanor, not a face turned to the world. Peace is a state of abiding, a living in an awareness that never wearies, questions, never strains for results.

Peace is belief in a power that never wavers. Peace must be great thought waves set in action by deep thinkers. Peace is the understanding of spiritual realities. It is the result of believing without a doubt in your heart that all that concerns you is in the safe keeping of the power that created you and also sustains you.

We must become like the little child, playing on the deck of a ship alone. A passenger questioned him, “Aren’t you afraid to be playing out here?” The child answered, “No, I’m not afraid, my father is captain of this ship.” Just such a simple attitude of thinking and feeling could be the answer to this complicated world of ours.

Peace can be brought forth by education to the young and old alike. Education must be in trust and honor among human beings. Trustworthiness is a rare commodity in our modern world; perhaps it can be found among a chosen few in close relationships but not among people as a whole. The only reason this condition of separateness exists is because we do not know each other.

If we could become aware that we are all One in an invisible way, beyond ordinary human conception, then we would find in ourselves a counterpart of every other human being.

Real peace is finding the counterpart of every person within your own self. Peace in its fullest would be to be unable to do anything against another living soul without cognizance of our own relationship and involvement. Peace is an inside job; it is never achieved by changing others or the world!

Lenten Message (24)

Today, Tuesday, March 24, is the twenty-fourth day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 24

Let us remember that it is through our bodies, through this human self, that we truly feel and know God. We feel this Life Presence as our breath, as the beat of our heart, as the faith that moves us with great power to all fulfillment. We go forward, fired with enthusiasm and interest, moved by the buoyancy and resilience of Spirit willing us forward.

We are warm and content by an inner flame of love that lifts the shade from the eyes of the soul and lets it glimpse in the loved one the perfection of God. This is why love has been called blind. Love does not see faults or shortcomings. It is not based on beauty of form. Love sees only the perfection of the within, which glows for the one who loves. Love is God’s healing power in the body of man.

Love is the greatest power moving through the body. It is the revelation of the perfection of God in man, which is seen clearly through the eyes of love. It is the power that carries man through the darkest night, the longest day or his supreme challenge. It is love of something that gives him all power. It may be love of country, or all humankind, for honor, for family or for one alone. It may be love of an idea, or of self – for we must love self if we are to truly love God!

Love is proof supreme of our Oneness with the Power of the Universe, for with love there is no separation! Not time or space or failure or misunderstanding can dim the strength and power of love. Love can release all outer achievement or gain, for love lives on – Love is God! Lack of health is separation.

Let us relax and remember and feel love, love of today or yesterday, love that streams through every cell of the body with a clear and crystal light that renews and recreates us. Feel the greatest love that has ever touched your mind and heart, for if it has ever touched you, it is still with you. No matter if the outer mind would convince you that some love is not good. All love is good and given directly from God. We may not direct love well or even share it at all because of our ignorance and fear, but Love is God in Action! Love is life – I feel love for something or someone with my whole being – And I feel God!

Lenten Message (23)

Today, Monday, March 23, is the twenty-third day of Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Assignment 23

Our greatest need is awareness. Awareness is gained by associating with something in mind, by thinking and feeling about it. To feel is to be thrilled, touched, moved; it is a sensation, an inner impression of the emotions.

You can know what feeling is when you think of something or someone you love dearly. For instance, you can think of home or a place where you have great joy and contentment, you can think of a time when joy and tenderness overwhelmed you, even the sound of music or a word can bring it back to you. This is Feeling.

We must be aware of this human self, this physical body as an instrument of God instead of a fleshy transient thing that is just here to be fed, clothed, and satisfied in the outer. An instrument is something that is instructed and moved by a greater power.

Our awareness has been on how we affect others and what they think instead of being true to our inner guide; this becomes living a lie, and demands a great toll of us in health and in happiness. Ideas are the seed of God. Let us then become more aware of this invisible self, this self of true choice. Let us practice listening to its needs and directions and set others free to become aware of their true self.

Communication and exchange of ideas are healthy and stimulating. All that every person is doing in the outer is the instruction and movement of the power we call God. But our field of action is our own life and our own inner instruction and this physical body in which we live. So let’s stay home with ourselves.

There is so much more than the outer indicates or has yet revealed. Let’s learn to be aware and feel this so much more!

You are feeling this great Presence in that inner knowing and desire that keeps pressing in the region of your heart to be released and fulfilled. You do feel the inner dream and plan for the next project of your life, which is moving toward outer completion through you. Even the very discontent that urges you forward is but Divine dissatisfaction. Be aware of every pressure as the pressing of God, that every feeling in your body is God movement. “There is None Else.”(Isaiah)

Lenten Message – 4th Sunday – The Sabbath

Today, Sunday, March 22, is the fourth Sunday in Lent. Lent is the period of time during which we can prepare ourselves for the Easter experience.

Here is the message for the fourth Sunday in Lent:

The Sabbath

The Sabbath is the “resting in the Lord,” the time of release and rest while God accomplishes through us His perfect work.

Most prayers are lost, unanswered, because we do not keep the Sabbath day holy (whole). Day means a time. When we pray, establishing our oneness with the Power of God within us and everywhere present, then we should relax, rest, until God does His perfect work.

As a rule we get up from prayer and meditation and, of ourselves, we try to answer our own prayer. We rush here and there to find people or money or some outer power to fulfill our need.

It may be that in such rushing around we get a partial answer to our prayer, but this is not the completion of God and we will find many of our efforts frustrated in the outer world. Most prayers are unanswered because of the prying outer mind of man.

Every day is the Sabbath day, so let us learn to keep the High Watch with our good. People of the past have believed this meant physical rest, not touching nor doing any outer labor. But it means much more than this. “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.” (Jesus)

The Sabbath is part of the individual’s unfoldment. We learn to wait, to silence fears and doubts. We come to a place where we fulfill the following directions: “I pray, I wait, I clear my mind and God does the work.”

True Sabbath consciousness is to have fulfilled the Divine Law in both thought and action. This of course includes inner peace, mental relaxation, and outer physical rest which is a great restorative. Recreation is to re-create, change. Let us “cast our burden” of the personal and the outer.

We do not own one paltry thing, no matter how much we have collected and saved. The only treasures are days lived; everything else is a universal loan. Our greatest burden is that we need something; our greatest freedom is to know we have it.
